How Our Mold Removal Process Works

Our process comes in two steps. The First step is our proprietary mold denaturation process, which creates a safe, non-toxic 'dry fog' or 'dry vapor' that fills and penetrates every critical surface in the indoor living spaces, commercial spaces, or industrial spaces. This 'dry vapor' is comprised of microscopic sterilant particles that kill everything from black mold fungi to bacteria and viruses on contact - without leaving any wet residue. After treatment, you'll pass a mold test, no problem.

The Second Step is the application of an invisible antimicrobial to the walls and ceilings to help prevent the buildup of mold spores from returning to the treated areas.

The Advantages of the Dry Vapor

Fumigation Process

Traditional mold remediation methods can take weeks to get mold levels

back to satisfactory levels in a single room, but not in the rest of living or work spaces or the home or facility. Furthermore, once that traditional process is over, you begin the pain-staking labor of rebuilding everything that was torn out. With our 'dry vapor' or fumigation technology, the entire problem from start to finish can be taken care of in as fast as 6-12 hours.

The Steps in Our Mold Removal Process

Step 1 — Dry Vapor Process

First, we disburse a powerful, non-toxic, sterilant into the indoor air in the form of a dry vapor. The sterilant vapor then begins to denatures and safely kill ALL mold growth, mold spores, fungi, bacteria, and viruses as soon as comes into contact. The dry vapor disburses billions of micrometers(really tiny) disinfecting particles, which permeate the hardest to reach places without damaging any surfaces. And, although our dry vapor process is instantly deadly to all molds and pathogens, including the Coronavirus, it is an FDA-approved, non-toxic, sterilant.

Step 2 — Antimicrobial Barrier Application

Once we eliminate all the mold and pathogens present in a treated area with the dry vapor process, we lay down a microbiological barrier that prevents against future mold growth and pathogen. This advanced technology provides long-term mold protection by attracting new mold spores and other pathogens to it an destroys these unwanted particulates on contact.

Step 3 (optional) - Visual Mold Staining Removal

Once the dry vapor process is complete and the mold and pathogens are dead, we'll remove the visual signs of surface mold growth and mold staining that the now dead mold left behind. Both the dry vapor process and visual removal work can be performed in just one day in small to medium-sized properties.

What's The Sterilant We Use In Our Treatments?

We use a special chlorine dioxide gas fumigation process. Chlorine dioxide is an EPA-approved sanitizing & disinfecting sterilant, deodorizer, tuberculocide, algaecide, fungicide, and an FDA-recognized food additive and preservative. Most people have never heard of Chlorine Dioxide (CLO2), or they think it's bleach. CLO2 is safe to use, and it does not leave toxic residue. Our special oxidation process releases tiny, dry CLO2 particles into the indoor air that get into and under hard-to-reach areas, pass through cracks thinner than a single hair, to oxygenate(attack & kill) pathogens & contaminants, rather than chlorinating them. CLO2 is considered a “friendly” disinfectant, sanitizer, and deodorizer.

FAQ About Our Mold Removal Service

  • Who is Pure Care Maintenance?

Pure Care Maintenance (formerly Pure Maintenance of Eastern PA) is an established 5-Star Google Reviewed home indoor air quality company formed in early 2020. The Company was formed by a group of specialists with over 20 years of experience in the home and commercial maintenance industry, who've spent the past 5+ years extensively researching, practicing, and perfecting the science of pathogen disinfection, mold removal, and odor removal.

  • How do I know I have a mold issue that needs your Company's services?

Whenever you see any kind of mold growing in your indoor spaces.

Whenever you smell musty odors in your home.

Whenever you have a water intrusion issue(flooding, burst water pipes, roof leaks, etc.) anywhere in your indoor spaces. Or, if you don't keep your indoor humidity levels low on a regular basis.

Whenever you feel better away from your home than when you're in your home.

When air quality tests taken by a mold inspector result in the spore counts being higher in your home than outside your home.

Whenever you've had a dirty ventilation system cleaned. Or, if you had only a certain

section of your property remediated for mold, and not all of your indoor spaces remediated. In either of these cases, the untreated areas are likely contaminated with excessive mold spores.

  • Is your mold removal treatment safe?

The ingredients in the sterilant used to create the dry gas fumigation process is non-toxic. Once fumigated, nothing poisonous or harmful is left on surfaces, and it's completely safe for people and pets to return to the indoor spaces almost immediately after the fumigation is completed.

  • How long does the mold removal treatment take?

All occupants(including pets) will need to prepare to be out of the home or facility for up to 14 hours, because the fumigation gas is too strong to remain in the indoor spaces while being treated.

Fish aquariums and live plants will also need to be removed during the treatment.

Also, the treatments are recommended to take place overnight. The fumigation gas does not work as well during daylight hours due to the ultraviolet light coming through windows can burn off the fumigation gas before it fully treats the spaces.

  • Will the treatment get behind my walls and ceilings?

The fumigation gas particles are extremely microscopic(as small as 0.124 nanometers or .0001 microns.

A mold spore is between 4 and 30 microns. Thus, any place that your average spore can fit into, the gas particle will also fit.

In special situations where there is a known mold issue in a small area behind a sealed wall or ceiling, we can poke a few 1/8 inch holes between the surfaces' studs to treat inside the wall or ceiling cavity. Otherwise, it's highly recommended to remove the entire sealed surface area to treat the infected area.

  • Will I need to clean everything after the treatment?

Not at all. Our process leaves no visible or tangible residue, so your home or facility and all items in it will be disinfected. Normal,

weekly cleaning to maintain a healthy, dust- and debris-free environment should continue as usual.

  • Does the visible mold disappear after it's treated?

No. Even though the gas fumigation treatment kills the mold, the visible remains of the now dead mold, or the mold staining, does not disappear.

The dead mold's appearance will fade over time.  However, we can offer to include the removal of the visible remains of mold for an additional fee.

  • How will I know the treatment worked?

Your technician will take an air sample or other sampling methods upon completing the treatment. The sample is then sent to an independent, accredited third-party laboratory. The test results are then returned to us and shared with you via email in 4-6 business days after the treatment.

  • How long does the fumigation treatment and antimicrobial last?

The gas fumigation treatment will permanatly kill the molds and mold spores currently invading your indoor spaces. Provided you don't have any further water intrusion or excessive moisture issues, you should not have any future mold issues.

The second step antimicrobial application will offer protection from the build up of mold spores for 90 days.
